Friendship is a common theme in children’s literature, and reading books about friendship is a great way to teach kids about how to make friends and what it means to be one. I had the privilege of reviewing a new book about friendship — and the author is . Women's literature has often been defined by publishers as a category of writing done by women. Though obviously this is true, many scholars find such a definition reductive. What makes the history of women's writing so interesting is that in many ways it is a new area of study.
Todd writes, "In this book I am investigating the literary phenomenon of female friendship, its form and ideology" (p. 1).
